Sri Thirumangai Azhwar is the Azhwar who had composed the 10 divine songs of Divya Prabandham on Sri Kola Villi Ramar.
When Sri Thirumangai Azhwar was venturing to Thiru Indaloor, on an Ekadesi day, he could not make it in time. Hence he was very sad that he could not have the dharshan of Thiru Indaloor Perumal.
During the same time, the Perumal from Thiruvelliyangudi, appeared to Sri Thirumangai Azhwar and commanded him to come to his temple at Thiruvelliyangudi.
Thiruvelliyangudi, as today, during the days of Azhwar, was a very prosperous agricultural township, with lots of trees of Coconut, Areca nut and several other trees.
The temple was habitat to several birds whose descendants are still making nest in the temple.
Azhwar was enchanted by the beauty of Perumal and true to Perumal's name as Sri Shrungaara Sundarar, he enchanted the Azhwar with his divine beauty.
Shringaara is one of the nava rasas and is recognized as the happiness and joy inside a loving couple. Here, the Lord showered such a loving happiness on Azhwar, that Azhwar sang 10 beautiful songs, glorifying Thiruvelliyangudi as a divya desam.
Azhwar mentions the flora and fauna of the region and performs mangalaasasanam to following perumal at Thiruvelliyangudi

Dhanur Maasam - Margazhi Maasam - Thiru Adhyayana Utsavam

Sri Krishna says in Srimath Bhagavad Gita - that in months, he is Margazhi ( Dhanur Maasam ).

This year 2016, Margazhi starts from 16-12-2016 and ends in 13-01-2017.

This month is specifically for the devotion towards Lord Sri Hari and visiting his holy temples ( called Divya Desams).
The special place of Thiruvelliyangudi Sri Kola Villi Ramar is that, visiting Thiruvelliyangudi Sri Kola Villi Ramar temple and having the dharshan of Sri Shrungaara Sundarar ( Sri Kola Villi Ramar ) itself is equivalent to visiting the 108 divya desams sanctified by Azhwars in 4000 Divya Prabandhams.

The month of Margazhi is very special for two reasons.

1. One because of the Thiruppavai festival of Sri Andal. Here in Thiruvelliyangudi, Sri Andal has a special place in a separate temple near the Perumal sannidhi.

2. Two because of the Thiru Adhyayana utsavam - the Thiru Adhyayana utsavam is a celebration of Tamil poem of 4000 diyva prabandhams of Azhwars and their divine outpourings to Sriman Narayana. Thiruvelliyangudi being one of the 108 divya desam sanctified by the nectar like songs of Sri Thirumangai Azhwar as well as visiting this temple in itself bestows through the blessing of Sri Netra Narayana ( Sri Ksheerabdhi nathan ) - the fruit of visiting 108 divya desams, taking part in Thiru Adhyayana Utsavam here brings the showering of blessings from Sri Maragatha valli samedha Sri Ksheerabdhi Nathan ( Sri Kola Villi Ramar ).

Especially, those taking part in previous Thiru Adhyayana festival have got the below miracles in their lives by the grace of Sri Kola Villi Ramar.

1. Regaining Lost vision.
2. Regaining Lost position.
3. Promotion in Managerial roles.
4. Politicians getting big success.
5. Husband and Wife problems are resolved and live happy married life.
6. Childless couples get blessing of Child like Sri Maragathavalli and Sri Kola Villi Ramar.
7. Marriage related hurdles are removed and both boys and girls awaiting marriage get their desired partners.
8. For the elderly, the blessing of divine vision of Sri Kola Villi Ramar as he gave to Sri Sukracharya and the fruit of visiting all the 108 Divya Desams.

For the above reasons and special reasons - devotees can take part and give their sankalpam through the archakar swamy to Sri Kola Villi Ramar.

The Thiru Adyayana utsavam happens for 20 Days during the month of Margazhi ( Dhanur maasam ).

The first 10 days are the Pagal Paththu utsavam.
The next 10 days are the Iraa Paththu utsavam.

All days - there will be special flower decoration for Sri Kola Villi Ramar - and he will be taken in procession inside the temple and will hear the Divya Prabandham recital on the 20 days.

The festival includes the Vaikunta Ekadesi - which falls on Sunday, January 8th 2017 ( 08 - 01 - 2017 ).

Vaikunta Ekadesi day - special flower decoration and haarathi will be performed. Perumal will go in procession within the temple and will be giving dharshan for the devotees.

The conclusion of festival happens on Nammalwar Moksham - which happens on 18th of January 2017.
